How to add ruffles to the Bondi Top
Updated: Apr 18, 2023
The Bondi Top is what I consider to be a great basic block pattern, which is great as is but is also destined to be hacked and played with to make it really unique. It really is only limited by our imaginations! Today I'm sharing with you details of my latest Bondi hack as seen here....
Here's what to do to create this look:
✂️Simply cut your Bondi at your waist and add ruffles to the bottom of the sleeves and around the bottom.
✂️To calculate what you need for the ruffles, first figure out the height you want them to be. Don't forget to add seam allowance and leave room for hemming.
✂️To figure out the length you will need to measure around the sleeves and around the base of the pattern once its sewn. I tend to add 1/3 of the finished length to get the length for my ruffle. So if you measure the waist circumference to be 30", add 10" to cut the length of your ruffle at 40". Sometimes I add a bit more if I want a fuller ruffle.
Don't forget if you give this ago and share on the socials during September use the #bonditopchallenge and you'll be in the running to win a Sew to Grow gift card! Full details are here.
